Features 🧲
⚪ It is a comprehensive tool, designed to simplify and streamline the process of reloading ammunition. One of its key features is its ability to perform multiple operations simultaneously. ⏭️ This significantly increases the speed of production compared to single-stage or turret presses, making it an ideal choice for those who require high-volume output.
⚪ Another significant characteristic is its adaptability to various calibres. ⏭️ With the appropriate die set, it can cater to a wide range of ammunition types, providing versatility that makes it appealing to many users.
⚪ Safety is also a core feature of this tool. It often comes with a powder check system, which alerts the user if a case has too much or too little powder. ⏭️ This ensures the correct powder charge is used, preventing any potential mishaps during shooting.
⚪ Lastly, this tool stands out for its ease of use. Even though it might seem complex due to its multiple stages, most models come with clear instructions and are designed to be user-friendly. ⏭️ This makes the reloading process straightforward, efficient, and manageable even for less experienced users.
Types 🎯
💠 Single-Stage Progressive Press | This type of progressive press is the simplest and often the most affordable. It performs one reloading operation at a time with each pull of the handle, such as resizing, depriming, priming, powder charging, and bullet seating. |
💠 Turret Progressive Press | They feature a rotating turret head that holds multiple dies, allowing for quicker calibre changes. Reloaders can set up different die stations for each reloading operation, so each pull of the handle advances the turret to the next station, completing several operations in a single cycle. |
💠 Automatic Indexing Progressive Press | Automatic indexing presses take turret presses a step further by automatically indexing the shell holder to the next station after each pull of the handle. This eliminates the need for manual turret rotation and speeds up the reloading process significantly. |
💠 Manual Indexing Progressive Press | Manual indexing progressive presses are similar to automatic indexing presses but require the user to manually advance the shell holder to the next station after each cycle. These presses offer more control over the process but are less automated. |
Maintenance 😎
🟣 Firstly, regular cleaning is of paramount importance to ensure the smooth operation of the press. This involves meticulously removing any accumulated dirt, grit or spent primer residue that could potentially hinder the function of the press. ➡️ By diligently cleaning the press, users can prevent any build-up that may impede its performance.
🟣 In addition to cleaning, lubrication is another critical aspect of maintenance. All moving parts of the press should be kept well-lubricated to promote not only smooth and easy operation but also to prevent premature wear and tear. ➡️ By applying the appropriate lubricant to the press, users can minimize friction and reduce the risk of parts wearing down over time.
🟣 Furthermore, it is crucial to periodically check the alignment and adjustment of the dies and shell plate. This step ensures accurate and consistent ammunition production. ➡️ By meticulously inspecting and making any necessary adjustments, users can maintain the precision of their reloading process, resulting in high-quality ammunition.
🟣 Lastly, users should make it a habit to inspect the press for any signs of wear, damage, or malfunction. Regular inspection allows for the early detection of any faulty or worn-out parts, which should be replaced promptly. ➡️ By replacing these parts in a timely manner, users can prevent further damage and uphold safety standards.

How To Use ⌛
✅ To start with, using a Reloading Press begins by preparing the brass. This involves cleaning and inspecting the brass for any signs of damage or wear. Damaged brass should be discarded to ensure safety and the reliability of the final product.
✅ Once the brass is ready, it’s time to set up the reloading press. Each calibre requires a specific set of dies, which must be installed in the press. The dies are responsible for reshaping the brass, seating the bullet, and crimping the case. Proper alignment and adjustment of the dies are essential for the accurate and consistent production of ammunition.
✅ Next, the brass needs to be placed on the shell plate. The shell plate is a rotating platform that holds the brass in position as it moves through the multiple stages of the reloading process. The brass is then pushed into the resizing die, which restores it to its original shape.
✅ Moreover, the priming process is crucial. This is where a new primer is inserted into the brass. The press has a primer feed system that automatically places a new primer in the correct position as the shell plate rotates. The user needs to ensure that the primer is seated properly in the brass to prevent any malfunctions during firing.
✅ Following this, the powder measure comes into play. The press has a powder measure that automatically dispenses the correct amount of powder into each case. It is vital to verify that the powder measure is accurately calibrated to avoid overcharging or undercharging the cases, which could lead to dangerous outcomes.
✅ Then, the bullet seating process commences. A bullet is placed on top of the case, and as the shell plate rotates, the bullet is pressed into the case by the seating die. The seating die can be adjusted to control the depth to which the bullet is seated.
✅ Finally, the last stage involves crimping the case. Crimping is the process of slightly bending the edge of the case into the bullet to secure it in place. After crimping, the reloaded ammunition is ejected from the press, ready to be used.

Practice only improves proficiency when the practice is designed to correct bad habits. I am using a press for a long time and can do it with close eyes
Please help a beginner. I am confused. Can I reload different calibers with a progressive reloading press?
🟡 Yes, progressive presses can be adjusted and configured to reload different calibers. However, switching calibers requires changing the dies, shell plates or turret heads, and making necessary adjustments for each specific caliber.
Looking to get in to reloading, both pistol (9, 40, and 10) and rifle (5.56, 270, various .30s, and 350) cases. For rifle, I am thinking of doing two press set-up assembly. First would be a single stage to decap, then tumble, then back to the single stage to neck size, following with a trimmer. Changing neck sizing dies to match caliber.
For press, I would set up a progressive process to prepare, charge, insert bullets, and crimp the neck. This would involve switching the turret with specific dies installed for each caliber. I plan to purchase new components and turret setups every year until I have all that I need to load ammunition for all my rifles.
I’m new to reloading and haven’t started yet, but I’m interested in doing so due to the high cost of ammunition.
Hello. Are progressive reloading presses suitable for beginners?
🟡 Progressive presses can be used by beginners, but they may have a steeper learning curve compared to single-stage or turret presses. Beginners should start with proper training, familiarize themselves with reloading safety protocols, and take the time to understand the press’s operation and the reloading process as a whole.
We used to shoot four days a week and would go through a large amount of ammunition. To improve efficiency, we decided to automate the lever action of the press. Initially, we attempted to use an air cylinder with a foot pedal but it was difficult to control and somewhat forceful. We then opted for a power steering pump from a car and powered it with a 1/3 horsepower motor, belt drive, and foot control valve. This proved to be the ideal solution.
The XL 650 is an excellent machine that can be used as a progressive press for life. Meanwhile, the 1050 is designed for reloading a large amount of ammo and handling crimped nato rounds, but changing calibers on it can be costly. I hope this clarifies things for you.
