In my experience, NiB feels the slickest when dry, closely followed by Ion-Bond. A quick wipe can bring back that slick feeling. Nitride is also nice, but not as slick when dry. It can still be cleaned relatively easily with a quick wipe. Phosphate BCGs require a lot of oil to feel slick and are generally harder to clean. Personally, I find that NiB, Ion-Bond, and hard chrome are the easiest to clean and give the best slick feel.

      The Faxon BGC is excellent because of the materials used in its construction, such as 9310 tool steel and S7 extractor. Additionally, the bolt lugs are chamfered at a 45° angle and it undergoes MPI testing. The nitride finish is also very impressive. I have fired 11,000 rounds with one of these and haven’t experienced any problems yet, but I’m not sure when I’ll need to replace the extractor spring.

              IMHO I find that black nitride works well for me and I have a few nickel boron items, but I don’t think I will purchase another one since I’ve had no issues with black nitride and have found that it works very well.
