  2. 🧽 Gentle Soap and Water: If your holster is made of waterproof or washable material, you can use a mild soap and water solution to clean it. Gently scrub the holster and rinse it thoroughly before allowing it to air dry.
  3. 🚫 Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents that may damage the holster’s materials. Stick to mild soaps or cleaners specifically recommended by the holster manufacturer, if applicable.
  4. 🌬️ Air Drying: After cleaning, allow it to air dry completely. Avoid exposing it to direct heat sources, as excessive heat can warp or damage the holster.
  5. 🌫️ Moisture Prevention: If your holster is prone to moisture buildup, consider using moisture-wicking or antimicrobial inserts to help absorb sweat and reduce odors. This can help prolong the life of the holster and maintain its cleanliness.
  6. 🌓 Rotation: Consider rotating your holsters if you have multiple options. This allows each holster to air out and prevents excessive wear on a single holster from daily use.
  7. 🔧 Hardware Inspection: Regularly inspect the clips, loops, or fastening hardware on your holster. Ensure they are securely attached and not damaged or worn out. Replace any worn or broken components to maintain the holster’s stability and retention.
  8. 🎯 Lubrication: If your holster has moving parts, such as adjustable retention screws, periodically apply a small amount of lubricant or gun oil to ensure smooth operation.
  9. 🌡️ Temperature Considerations: Avoid exposing your holster to extreme temperatures for prolonged periods. High heat can distort the shape or materials, while extreme cold may cause stiffness or cracking.

  2. 🔫 Hip Carry: This position typically involves wearing the holster on the strong-side hip (around the 3 o’clock position for right-handed individuals). It offers a comfortable and accessible location for drawing the firearm.
  3. ⬅️ Back Carry (Small of the Back): Some individuals prefer carrying the holster at the small of the back (around the 6 o’clock position). It can be suitable for individuals who find it comfortable and accessible.
  4. ↖️ Cross Draw: Cross draw involves carrying the holster on the opposite side of the dominant hand (e.g., carrying on the left side for right-handed individuals). It can be a suitable option for individuals who find it comfortable and accessible.
Can you sit with an IWB holster?

Yes, you can sit with an Inside-the-Waistband holster. However, the comfort and ease of sitting can vary depending on factors such as the holster design, your body shape, and the position of the holster.

💺 Adjustability: The comfort of sitting with a holster can be improved by adjusting the cant (angle) and position of the holster. Finding the right balance and position on your waistline can enhance comfort while seated.

🪑 Holster Position: When sitting, it’s often more comfortable to position the holster slightly forward or slightly backward from the usual standing position. This adjustment can alleviate pressure and discomfort caused by the seating position.

🛋️ Clothing Considerations: The type of clothing you wear can impact the comfort of sitting with a holster. Loose-fitting or stretchable waistbands can provide more flexibility and reduce discomfort when sitting for extended periods.

🪑 Seat Selection: The type of seat you choose can affect your comfort level while sitting with a holster. Seats with sufficient back support and cushioning can help distribute the pressure and provide more comfort for the holster against your body.

🪑 Body Position: Finding a comfortable body position while seated can also contribute to overall comfort with a holster. Adjusting your posture and sitting upright can help maintain proper alignment and reduce any discomfort caused by the holster.

What makes a IWB holster comfortable?
  • ✅Proper Fit: A comfortable holster should have a secure and snug fit around your firearm, providing stability and preventing unnecessary movement.
  • 🧶 Quality Materials: Holsters made from soft and breathable materials, such as neoprene, leather, or fabric, can increase comfort by reducing friction and irritation against your skin.
  • 🌬️ Ventilation: IWB with built-in ventilation or perforations allow air circulation, helping to minimize sweat buildup and keep you cool throughout the day.

  • 💪 Reinforced Construction: A sturdy and well-constructed holster provides stability and support, preventing the holster from collapsing or shifting during daily activities.

  • 🩹 Padding or Cushioning: Some holsters feature paddings or cushioning materials, such as memory foam or gel inserts, to provide additional comfort by reducing pressure points and friction against your body.

What is the best material for a gun holster?

  3. 🌐 Hybrid (Kydex/Leather): Hybrid holsters combine a Kydex or polymer shell with a leather backing or other soft materials. This combination offers the benefits of both materials, providing a balance between retention, comfort, and concealability.
  4. 🧶 Fabric/Nylon: Holsters made from fabric or nylon materials are lightweight, comfortable, and often feature adjustable retention systems. They are popular for their affordability and versatility. However, fabric holsters may not provide the same level of retention as Kydex or leather.
  5. 🏔️ Injection-Molded Polymer: Injection-molded polymer holsters are lightweight, rugged, and often used in duty holsters or tactical applications. They offer durability, adjustable retention, and good value for the price.
What type of clothing is suitable for IWB holster carry?

  2. 🩳 Pants or Skirts with Sturdy Waistbands: Choose pants or skirts with sturdy waistbands that can comfortably support the weight of the holster and firearm. A strong waistband helps maintain proper positioning and prevents the holster from sagging or shifting.
  3. 🧥 Jackets or Outerwear: Wearing jackets, blazers, or other outerwear can provide an additional layer of concealment for your holster. The added coverage helps prevent printing and keeps the holster and firearm discreet.
  4. 🩲 Undergarments with Holster Pockets: Some individuals prefer undergarments with built-in holster pockets designed specifically for IWB carry. These undergarments provide a secure and comfortable option for carrying without the need for a traditional belt or waistband.
  5. 🎽 Active Wear: If you engage in physical activities or exercise while carrying, consider activewear that offers stretchable and breathable fabrics. Look for options with reinforced waistbands or built-in holster compatibility to ensure secure carry during movement.

I have a holster that has been attached to my belt with leather straps for a while, but I don’t use it anymore because the leather straps move up and down too much, making the holster unstable. The problem gets worse as the leather stretches. When I try to draw my firearm from the holster, there is too much upward movement before the firearm comes out. If I had a different belt loop, it could solve the problem.

Individuals with larger body frames may prefer holsters with wider clips or attachments for better stability and weight distribution. It’s essential to consider your body shape and try different holster options to find the most comfortable fit.

I use my Shapeshift AIWB holster for appendix carry, and during colder months I attach belt slides to carry it OWB.

I use the iwb 4.0 holster for my Springfield subcompact gen 2 9mm firearm and it is the best iwb holster I have ever used. It is effortless to put on and take off, and it never leaves a noticeable print unlike other holsters I have tried. I wear it all day, and it doesn’t cause any discomfort. Drawing my gun from it is also smooth. I would give it a rating of 10 out of 10 when compared to other holsters.

💡 Drawing from an IWB holster requires practice and adherence to safety protocols. The exact drawing technique may vary depending on the holster’s design and the carry position. It generally involves a smooth and deliberate motion, ensuring your finger is off the trigger until you have a proper grip on the firearm and are ready to engage the target.

I purchased an Alien Gear Cloak Tuck IWB Holster for my Kimber Ultra Carry II .45. I am really happy with how it fits my body and secures the firearm. Although the holster is longer than a typical IWB holster, with some fitting and adjusting, it is very comfortable and secure.
