Before starting your painting project, it is important to choose the right type of paint for your AR-15. There are a variety of paint types on the market, but not all of them are created equal. If you want a long-lasting paint job that will resist chipping and fading, you need to choose high-quality acrylic or urethane paint. Once you have the right type of paint, you will also need to select the appropriate primers and clear coats.
When it comes time to start painting your AR-15, be sure to sand down the surface with fine-grit sandpaper before applying any primer or paint. This will help to create a smooth base for your new finish. Once the surface is sanded, you can then start applying the primer. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully when applying primer or paint. Once the primer is dry, you can then start painting your AR-15. Again, be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully. After the paint is dry, you can apply a clear coat to help protect your new paint job.

There are many ways to paint an AR-15, but the most important thing is to make sure that you prepare the surface properly. sanding away any rough edges and degreasing the surface prior to painting will help ensure a smooth, durable finish. Once the surface is prepped, you can begin painting. For best results, use a high-quality primer and paint designed for metal surfaces. Apply multiple thin coats, allowing each one to dry completely before adding the next. When your final coat of paint is dry, apply a clear sealant to protect the finish.

There are a few things you need to know before painting your AR-15. First, it is important to sand down the firearm in order to create a smooth surface for the paint to adhere to. Next, you will need to prime the firearm with a quality primer that is designed for use on metals. Once the primer is dry, you can then begin painting your AR-15 with whichever color or colors you desire. It is important to use thin, even coats of paint and to allow each coat of paint to dry completely before applying the next one. With proper preparation and execution, you can achieve a professional-looking finish on your AR-15 that will be sure to impress anyone who sees it.

It’s not as difficult as one might think to paint an  AR-15. With a little bit of patience and the right supplies, anyone can do it. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • A can of primer specifically for painting firearms
  • A can of spray paint in the color of your choice
  • Painters tape
  • Newspaper or some other type of drop cloth
  • Safety glasses
  • A well-ventilated area in which to work

Once you have all of your supplies gathered, follow these steps:

  1. Begin by taking the AR-15 apart. You’ll need to remove the upper receiver from the lower receiver, as well as any other detachable parts (like the magazine, sights, etc).
  2. Next, use the painter’s tape to cover any areas of the gun that you don’t want to paint. This includes any parts that are made of aluminum or plastic – you don’t want the paint to adhere to these surfaces.
  3. Once everything is taped off, lay down a drop cloth or some newspaper in your work area. This will help to catch any overspray.
  4. Put on your safety glasses, and then shake the can of primer for about a minute. Apply a light coat of primer to the gun, making sure to cover all areas evenly. Let the primer dry for about an hour before moving on to the next step.
  5. Repeat step four with the can of spray paint, applying a light coat evenly over the entire gun. Let the paint dry for about two hours before handling the gun.
  6. Once the paint is completely dry, you can reassemble your AR-15.
