I own a niB bcg for my firearm and it has been a great experience for me so far. I have fired around 1300 rounds with it and to clean it, all I need is one wipe with a paper towel. I am amazed by its efficiency.
NiB coating can be inconsistent. While it’s fine if applied evenly, there may be issues if not. Therefore, I wouldn’t take the chance. On the other hand, phosphate-coated, chrome-lined carriers are perfectly fine. They hold lube extremely well and the claims that “carbon wipes right off NiB” are overrated. I’ve personally never done more than wipe off and relube my phosphate carriers and they run great. If you need a high-speed coating, np3 has actual material benefits and is not inconsistent.
As long as the coating was applied correctly, NiB bolt carrier groups should be of good quality.
TheB coating is not very good and is popular among beginners. If it was actually effective, more reputable manufacturers like LMT/KAC would be using it. However, as of now, they have not produced a NiB-coated BCG.
