What is a compensator?
A compensator is a device on the muzzle of a gun that redirects propellant gases to counter recoil and unwanted rising of the barrel during rapid fire. The science of motion tells us that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. In the case of a gun, the action is the explosive force of the cartridge is ignited. This force causes the bullet to be propelled down the barrel, while at the same time pushing the gun backward.
The compensator redirects some of this gas (the reaction) upwards, countering both recoil and muzzle rise. This allows the shooter to keep their sights on target for longer periods, leading to improved accuracy and faster follow-up shots. Many modern guns come standard with compensators, and they are particularly popular with competition shooters.
A compensator is a device on a gun that redirects propellant gases to counteract recoil and muzzle rise. This allows the shooter to keep the sights aligned with the target while firing more rapidly. A compensator also serves to cool the barrel faster, which can improve accuracy.
A compensator is a device attached to the barrel of a firearm that redirects propellant gases to counter recoil and unwanted rising of the barrel during rapid fire. It has also been found to be effective in reducing muzzle flash.
