3. push forward on the trigger guard assembly pin (located just behind the trigger guard) and pull the pin out
4. rotate the barrel 90 degrees counter-clockwise (while looking down at it from above), then lift it off the receiver
5. depress the shell stop (on the right side of the receiver) and slide the fore-end assembly off the magazine tube
6. take out the action spring retainer pin (located under the rear of the dust cover), then remove the action spring and guide rod from inside the receiver
7. pull back on the charging handle and remove the bolt assembly from the receiver

1. The first thing you need to do is make sure the shotgun is unloaded. Once you have confirmed that the shotgun is unloaded, locate the takedown screw on the side of the receiver, just behind the trigger guard. Use a 3/16th inch wrench or a similar tool to loosen, but not remove, the takedown screw.
2. With the take-down screw loosened, you can now slide off the fore-end and stock section of the shotgun. The action spring and magazine tube should be left in place in the receiver. You will now have access to all of the internal parts of the shotgun.
3. To further disassemble the shotgun, start by removal of the bolt assembly by retracting it fully and then depressing the small plunger located on the bottom, rear of the receiver. The bolt release can now be slid forward and off of the shotgun.
4. The magazine follower can now be removed by depressing the spring tab located at the front of the magazine tube and sliding the follower out. Next, remove the magazine spring retainer by depressing it and sliding it out of the magazine tube. The magazine spring can now be removed.
5. To finish disassembling the shotgun, remove the action bar lock by depressing the small plunger on the right side of the receiver and sliding the action bar lock to the left. The action bars can now be removed from the receiver by depressing the tab on each side and sliding them out.
The shotgun is now fully disassembled and all of the parts can be cleaned, inspected, and/or repaired as needed. Once you have finished your work, reassemble the shotgun in the reverse order of how it was disassembled.

If you’re looking to disassemble a Remington 870, there are a few things you’ll need to keep in mind:
– First, make sure that the gun is unloaded and that there is no ammunition in the chamber.
– Next, take off the fore-end and buttstock from the receiver. To do this, loosen the action bar lock nut located in front of the trigger guard.
– After that, remove the magazine cap, shotgun Barrel assembly, and bolt carrier group by depressing the receiver release lever located just above the trigger guard.
– With that done, you should be able to easily remove the remaining parts of the gun including the forearm grip, trigger assembly, and stock.
1. Before beginning to disassemble your Remington 870, make sure that the gun is unloaded. Unload the shotgun by operating the action to eject any shells in the chamber and magazine tube. Store all ammunition in a safe place out of reach of children or inexperienced shooters.
2. To disassemble the Remington 870, first remove the barrel from the receiver. To do this, open up the action and push down on the barrel latch (located just forward of the trigger guard) to release the barrel from its locked position in the receiver. Once the barrel is free, pull it straight away from the receiver.
3. Next, you will need to remove the fore-end assembly from the back end of the barrel notch. The fore-end assembly is held in place by a dovetail relationship and can be removed by prying it off with a flat head screwdriver.
4. Once the fore-end assembly is free, remove the magazine tube cap (located at the end of the magazine tube), which is held on by two screws. With the magazine tube cap removed, the magazine spring and follower can be removed from the magazine tube.
5. The final step in disassembling the Remington 870 is to remove the trigger assembly from the receiver. This is accomplished by first removing the stock (which is held in place by two screws located at the rear of the receiver), and then removing the pin that holds the trigger assembly in place. The trigger assembly can then be removed by pulling it straight out from the receiver.
With your Remington 870 now disassembled, you can proceed to clean all of the parts. Be sure to pay special attention to the barrel, as this part must be kept clean for optimal performance. Once all of the parts are clean, you can reassemble the shotgun in the reverse order of disassembly.
