To decock a ten-point crossbow, hold the crossbow with the muzzle pointing down and pull the cocking handle back. Then let go of the cocking handle and let it slide forward. The crossbow will now be in the uncocked position.
Note that some ten-point crossbows have a built-in safety that prevents them from firing when they are in the uncocked position. Check your owner’s manual to see if your particular crossbow has this feature. If it does not, you should always keep the crossbow in the cocked position when it is not being used so that it cannot accidentally fire.
To cock a crossbow, first, make sure that there is no arrow in the bow. Then pull the cocking handle back and lock it into place. This will tension the string and load an arrow into the bow. Make sure that the arrow is properly seated in the bow before you release the cocking handle.
If you have a compound crossbow, you will need to use a rope cocking device to help you cock the crossbow. These devices attach to the cocking handle and make it easier to pull the string back.
Once you have cocked the crossbow, it is ready to fire. Simply aim and squeeze the trigger to release the arrow.
One way is to hold the crossbow horizontally with the barrel pointed towards the ground. With your left hand, use your thumb to push the cocking lever all the way down until it snaps into place. This will release the bowstring. Now, gently lower the crossbow to the ground using your left hand.
Another way to decock a ten-point crossbow is by holding it vertically with the barrel pointing up. With your left hand, use your thumb to push the cocking lever all the way down until it snaps into place. This will release the bowstring. Now, gently pull on and hold onto both ends of the bowstring and lower the crossbow down to the ground.
If you have a crossbow that has a built-in cocking device, such as a crank or rope cocker, you can use that to decock the crossbow. Simply follow the instructions for your particular cocking device.
