FAQ 🤔

How many rounds do 6.5 Grendel magazines typically hold?
⚖️ The standard magazine capacity can vary depending on the specific firearm and magazine design. 📢However, we can provide you with a range of common capacities:

  • ➔ 5-round magazines: Some manufacturers offer 5-round magazines. These magazines are often used for hunting or in jurisdictions with magazine capacity restrictions.
  • ➔ 10-round magazines: 10-round magazines are commonly available for 6.5 Grendel rifles. They provide a moderate capacity and are popular among target shooters, sports shooters, and hunters.
  • ➔ 15-round magazines: Some aftermarket manufacturers produce 15-round magazines. These extended magazines offer a higher round count and can be used for various shooting purposes.
  • ➔ 20-round magazines: Similar to 15-round magazines, aftermarket manufacturers may offer 20-round mags. These magazines are often utilized for applications where a higher round count is desired, such as competition shooting or tactical use.
  • ➔ 25-round and higher-capacity magazines: There are extended-capacity magazines available for these rifles that can hold 25 rounds or more. These larger-capacity magazines are less common and are typically used in specialized shooting contexts, such as certain competition events or specific tactical scenarios.

🔔 Note that local laws and regulations may restrict the maximum magazine capacity allowed in certain jurisdictions. Additionally, specific rifle models may have proprietary magazines that differ from the general capacities mentioned above. ⚠️Always ensure compliance with local laws and regulations when determining the magazine capacity for your firearm.

Can I use a standard AR-15 magazine for 6.5 Grendel?
✅ Yes, you can use a standard AR-15 magazine for 6.5 Grendel with a few considerations. While the 6.5 Grendel cartridge shares the same parent case as the .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO, it requires a modified magazine to accommodate its larger dimensions. Standard AR-15 magazines are designed for the smaller .223 Remington or 5.56 NATO rounds and may not reliably feed 6.5 Grendel ammunition.

💡 To ensure optimal performance and reliability, we recommend you to use dedicated 6.5 Grendel magazines specifically designed to handle the unique cartridge dimensions and feeding requirements. These magazines feature modified internal geometry and follower designs tailored to the 6.5 Grendel, ensuring smooth and consistent feeding.

How do I maintain and clean my 6.5 Grendel magazines?
🧤 Proper maintenance and regular cleaning are essential to keep your 6.5 Grendel magazines in top-notch condition. 👣 Based on the results of our research, here’s a step-by-step guide to help you maintain them:

  • 📍 Disassembly: Start by carefully disassembling the magazine. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your specific magazine model to avoid damaging any components.
  • 📍 Inspect for debris: Examine the magazine components for any dirt, debris, or fouling that may impede proper functioning. Pay particular attention to the follower, spring, and feed lips.
  • 📍 Cleaning: Use a cleaning brush and a mild solvent to remove any accumulated dirt or fouling. Gently scrub the interior and exterior surfaces of the magazine body, follower, and feed lips. Ensure thorough cleaning of hard-to-reach areas.
  • 📍 Drying: After cleaning, ensure that all components are dry. You can use compressed air or allow them to air dry naturally. Avoid using excessive heat, as it may damage certain magazine materials.
  • 📍 Reassembly: Carefully reassemble the magazine, ensuring all components are properly aligned and engaged. Refer to the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure correct reassembly.
  • 📍 Function check: Once reassembled, perform a function check by manually cycling the follower and verifying smooth movement. Ensure the feed lips are correctly positioned and provide consistent tension.

📢 Remember to clean and maintain your magazines regularly, especially after intense shooting sessions or exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Proper care will help maximize their longevity and reliability.

Can I use a 6.5 Grendel magazine in an AR-15 chambered in .223 Remington or 5.56 NATO?
🛑 While this magazine can hold .223 Remington or 5.56 NATO cartridges due to their similar size, it’s important to note that the opposite is not true. ❌ You should not use it in an AR-15 chambered in .223 Remington or 5.56 NATO. The larger dimensions of the 6.5 Grendel magazine may cause feeding issues or lead to unreliable functioning in rifles chambered for smaller cartridges.

🔔 To ensure proper functioning and maintain safety, always use magazines specifically designed for the cartridge your AR-15 is chambered in. This practice will help prevent malfunctions and potential damage to your firearm.

Are there any specific brands that produce high-quality 6.5 Grendel magazines?

I absolutely love using Duramag magazines for my 6.5 Grendel Franken-AR! These mags have proven to be incredibly reliable and durable, which is crucial for my hunting adventures here in Alaska. I’ve had a really positive experience with Franklin Armory. I recently installed it in a Spikes Tactical lower, and I must say, it performed flawlessly. One thing to note is that you’ll need to purchase the bolt catch from Franklin Armory, which typically costs around $18. However, if you’re looking to save some money like I did, you can simply trim down the protruding end of the existing bolt catch and file it smooth. It’s a pretty straightforward process, and it worked like a charm for me. When it came to inserting the magazine, I did notice a bit of resistance, but once it was in, it functioned without any issues. Overall, I highly recommend this product, especially if you’re in California and need to ensure compliance with the regulations.

I’ve gotta say, Duramags are fantastic when it comes to hunting and practice shooting out in the field. They’ve been a game-changer for me, especially considering the troubles I’ve had in the past with other 6.5 Grendel mags. No more jamming or miss feeding issues to worry about, which is such a relief. If you’re in the market for a smaller magazine that can handle any conditions, whether it’s long-distance hiking or long-range shooting, these Duramags are definitely worth considering. They’re lightweight and compact, making them a breeze to carry in small bags and cases. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable option out there.

I’ve had some problems with other magazines, but I found that the E-Lander mag is truly reliable and sturdy. One thing that sets it apart is the fact that it’s made of steel instead of aluminum. As a nice bonus, these magazines are marked with the Grendel caliber, making it easier for me to identify them. The white follower is also a great feature, especially since I have multiple uppers. It saves me the trouble of having to mark each magazine individually just to find the right one.

I’ve had a great experience with magazines for my BCA 6.5G upper. Out of all the different brands I’ve tried, ASC is the one that has performed the best. The magazines come pre-fit for 5 rounds, but with a simple modification using a wire clipper, they can easily be adjusted to hold 10 rounds.

I’m really pleased with how well the magazine functions. I’ve put quite a bit of Wolf steel-cased ammunition through it, and it hasn’t had any failures. The Flat Dark Earth color of the magazine actually matches fairly well with my Magpul stock and grip. It might be slightly different, but it’s close enough for me. Considering the price, I think it performs exactly as it should.

I recently got my hands on a Duramag magazine as a backup for my trusty Ruger American chambered in 6.5 Grendel. I must say, this mag is solidly built and doesn’t disappoint. Feeding rounds into it is a breeze, and it fits seamlessly into the rifle, just like the one that originally came with it from Ruger. It’s become my go-to secondary magazine, and the best part is that it conveniently slips into a small pouch on my rifle sling.

I’ve been using these magazines with my Aero Precision lower, and I couldn’t be happier. They’re solidly constructed and have consistently performed flawlessly for me. Whether I’m shooting different bullet weights or putting them through rigorous tests, I haven’t experienced a single failure. They fit snugly and securely in my lower, and when it’s time to reload, they drop out smoothly. Honestly, I’m really impressed with these magazines and they’ve earned my trust. It’s safe to say that I’ll be adding more of these to my collection without hesitation.

I can’t complain about these magazines at all. They work like a charm, no issues whatsoever. The all-steel construction shows excellent craftsmanship, and I appreciate the attention to detail. If I ever find myself in need of more magazines, I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase these again. In fact, I’m planning to get some larger capacity mags just like these soon. They performed flawlessly with the Grendel build I put together, and that gives me a lot of confidence in their reliability. Overall, I’m really pleased with my experience using these magazines.

✅ Yes, 6.5 Grendel magazines are commonly used for competitive shooting and hunting purposes. The 6.5 Grendel cartridge offers good long-range performance, and having spare magazines allows for faster reloads during competitions or when engaging multiple targets while hunting. ⚠️However, it is always advisable to comply with local laws, regulations, and hunting guidelines when using firearms and accessories for hunting activities.

I’ve given a few different brands a shot, and I must say, apart from E-Lander, they all gave me some frustrating cycling problems. But let me tell you, E-Lander was worth every penny. It performed like a dream, no hassles or glitches. I couldn’t be happier with my choice.
